Elijah Craig Kentucky Straight Rye

Nice nose- a bit of orange peel. Spicy sweet palate. Corn is evident. A bit of cinnamon. Easy to drink.

Lemongrass and oats on the nose. Hint of butterscotch. Wheat bread (but not too much) and honey on the palate. Minty finish. A very pleasant rye, especially for someone just stepping into it.

good rye. basically like a bourbon, with the corn and rye ratio swapped out. easy drinker, but Quality Is flavour of the mash and barrel aged-- masks the alcohol with a robust, excitable, delectable taste. At 90 proof does not overpower. i had not seen this, Is so 1st time I saw it, I swooped it up, and was impressed that it is only the same price as the original bourbon from EC

One of the smoothest sipping straight rye whiskies I have ever had the pleasure to sip, and sip, and sip. (I have nearly finished my first bottle without taking the time to make a mixed drink.) Being 51% rye this could pass to many tastes as a high rye bourbon. In other words, the rye mint and licorice are there---but not in a "in your face" manner. "Extra-aged" but NAS; but, no matter, it is super smooth and its 94 proof could easily pass for 80 proof. To my taste there is a nearly perfect balance of rye spice, corn sweetness, and the vanilla and spice from the oak. I caught this on sale for $25---I am very happy.
