HDC Elk Rider Rye is a blend of 2 year old 95% rye and 5% malted barley that has been aged in a mixture of 10, 50, and 200 liter American oak barrels. Produced in a one of a kind Italian copper pot still named "Nonna", which was designed for grappa production. Nonna, coupled with a thumper and 14 ft reflux column-still allow HDC high flavor profiles in a single pass.

Tasting Notes

"This 2 year blended rye has a sweet orange marmalade and rye dough aroma. The whiskey is very light in body, and on the palate is full of baking spices. It finishes subtly with green apple and pear. Overall I find it a bit young for my personal preference but I do think they are on to something if they can keep the price point the same as they age. "
