The 2014 Four Roses Limited Edition Single Barrel was by far one of the finest releases of the year. The bottling I tasted was from warehouse HW, the Barrel No. was 47-2J. Bottled at 56.7% abv. This bourbon is 11 years old and is a must buy for anyone that crosses its path. The recipe they use for this is their OESF which means it is their 75% corn, 20% rye, 5% barley mash-bill and the yeast strain they use is one that highlights herbal notes.

Tasting Notes

"Baking spices smack me in my olfactory receptors as I waft this over-proof spirit. Next, ripe red and stone fruits follow with cacao and mild tobacco notes coming next. The palate is full of chocolate and caramel with a rich oily mouth-feel. The finish is less spicy than I anticipated, with a medium-long length."
