This poor pour had the misfortune of being tasted alongside Handy 2020 and Sazerac 18 (2021).
By comparison, it doesn’t come close. On its own, it’s still very good and deeply complex with an astringent finish like an Expo marker. I would drink again but not buy.
Tasted this at bourbon fest and holy cow it is great. So we'll balanced. Not spice forward how I traditionally think of four roses tasting. Will make me total revisit this distillery
Nose: Popcorn. Oak. Caramel. Root beer?, peanuts
Body: medium to full
Palate: spicy, peppermint, caramel
Finish: medium to long smokey and tasty.
Note: last taste from 1010 for the night. Very much looking forward to this. This is definitely the most flavorful and full throated of the samples tonight. Very tasty.
Tasty, but doesn't quite punch at its weight IMO. If this were an $80 bottle, it'd be a knockout but at $150+ retail, it leaves a little to be desired. I've had several 4R Single Barrel selections that were as good or better.
