Reviewed January 24, 20221.23.22 Served: Neat, flute Bottle Opened: 1 month ago The brief: Smells like black truffle-infused cynar. Tastes like a spicier ricola cough drop. Aroma: Deep cola and earth much like the nose of cynar or averna. This draws out into a distinctly pungent, spicy, and savory black truffle aroma. After nasal fatigue (whoops!) The aroma has completely transformed, and now smells of vanilla extract and chocolate waffle cones/chocolate wafers (baked in, not dipped), with a finish more akin to turpentine. Flavor: Light sweetness and body, which makes sense according to the claims of a lower sugar content. Medium light bitterness. Breathing back out after a sip gives the impression of smelling a leather/tobacco oriented men's cologne. The overall flavor is very similar to that of a yellow Ricola cough drop. The finish is lively, with a blend of calabrian pepper-type spice (think spicy meats, much gentler than latin american peppers) and peppermint. Gotta revisit this one. I might have tired my nose out too much by over-sniffing before actually tasting it. Definitely unlike any amaro I've ever had before due to the truffley nose.
