George T. Stagg Bourbon (Fall 2014)
Buffalo Trace // Kentucky, USA
Barrels for this release of the Big Boy of the Antique Collection were selected from Warehouses C, H, I, K, L, P and Q. It is uncut and unfiltered, and though it has no age statement attached, it was distilled in the spring of 1998. As always, this is super high proof and recommended with a drop of water to really let it do its thing.
BourbonProduced anywhere in USA; Mash bill of at least 51% corn; aged in new, charred oak barrels.
Cask Typenew charred oak
"Very concentrated flavors of dark dried fruits (figs, dates), bittersweet chocolate (at least 80% strength), vanilla, dark pie cherries, molasses and cedar. The flavors are tight as a sausage casing until some water is added, then it really blossoms. As with many older bourbons, it has a certain mustiness, here very pleasant. Stagg always has a bit of a burn, but for fans, that's part of the fun!"
