Quite an aggressive nose that fools you for a younger and more alcoholic whisky.
Green and fruity, this one has a very marked pear taste.
Spicy but not overly so. Medium to long finish with a tad too much burn for my liking.
Enjoyed this. Classic highland with a coastal influence. Very honey forward but with a nice wood spice thanks to the 46% and 13 yrs in the wood. It was in the high $60 range near me which is a decent value but this left me slightly wanting in a way I usually am with highland malts. It’s a nice change of pace from the peat, smoke and sherry bombs that litter the landscape.
Nice light fruity nose, mid palate has lots of flavor but the finish ends too bitter and harsh for my liking. Also there is a pretty strong astringency to this malt, I’m usually not sensitive to this proof but you can definitely feel it here. Maybe needs more time in the bottle?
