Sherry casks (Pedro Ximenex & Oloroso)
Nose: crisp, full bodied, mature, sweet notes - vanilla, dark honey, fruits (apple, pear...), oak, autumn leaves. Ginger bread. Light smoke after splash of water.
True Sherry Bomb!
Palate: Spice pinch on tongue but oversl very soft. Nice, rich and complex. Dark caramel, sherry sweetness, oak.
Finish: long, sherry sweet, dried fruits. Prunes. Tannin
Perfect Fall drink - in the taste and mood. Full bodied, fruity with spices - not too soft and light. Not refreshing - more sophisticated and rich. Not a daily sipper for me.
No coloring added + 43% vol - another pluses for me.
With head to head comparison with the RedBrest 12 I'll prefere Irish one... softness and triple distillation is for me despite the heavy bourbon influence
Glendronach 12 tastes well above its price point so definitely will buy again.
