Very complex with a somewhat musty sherry nose. Darker notes of coffee bean and walnut bitters add to the intrigue. The flavor has the expected sweetness, but this is remarkably tempered by the amount of wood that has been infused over two decades. Over the finish, notes of dark cherry, pecan and bitter chocolate bring the journey to a close.
This is excellent but not too far off from Glendronach 18 in terms of flavor profile despite longer maturation (oak notes) and some PX maturation not present in the 18 yr. Is it worth the extra bucks?
