Glenkinchie 20 Year
Glenkinchie // Lowlands, Scotland
Originally known by the name of Milton and what is now Glenkinchie was founded in 1825. Nowadays one of the five working Lowland distilleries (including new additions Alisa Bay and Daftmill along with Auchentoshan, and Bladnoch), Glenkinchie lies in East Lothian, southeast of Edinburgh, thereby earning the nickname “Edinburgh Malt”. Glenkinchie represents the Lowlands in the Classic Malts Portfolio, chosen for this honor in 1986. This limited-edition release was aged in refill American oak and former brandy casks.
Single MaltDistilled in pot stills from 100% malted barley, produced at one distillery, aged in barrels; if Scotch or Irish, must be aged for at least three years.

"Grassy and hay grains start with a slight tinge of blue cheese, almonds, and vanilla melding in with a slight hint of marzipan. The palate quickly moves up the scale, with the sugars hitting hard after grass and hay move through, followed by tart malts into a touch of smoke and chocolate butter. Rich and creamy, the whisky leaves little to be desired, with a long finish of malts and honey turning into dried fruits and fruit peels."
