$58 - Michigan. Nose (Neat): Light alcohol, sangaria, sweetness, a little char and tobacco. Palate (Neat): Light burn with sweet and floral notes. Rounded with definite hints of port and a minty finish over some chocolate. Very good neat. Do not recommend with ice, since the flavor disappears significantly with ice. Finish is long and makes me want to open up a bottle of lush red wine to enjoy next.

Whisky meets port? One can be forgiven for confusing this dark ruby colored whisky with a shot of port. On the nose it gets even more confusing with the smell of dark chocolate and sweet port gently caressing your senses. On the pallet this lady in red becomes a whisky! It is a fantastic experience when your tastebuds reveal the true nature of this subtle whisky. Oak lingers in the medium finish and the entire experience leaves you wanting more. A beautiful whisky, but be warned, the bottle won't last very long.
