Reviewed May 29, 2022Barell 88, bottle 147, proof 108. On the nose it has solvent, candied covered milk chocolate (think m&ms), dusty corn, candied cherry, a hint of honey, and some cardboard. I enjoyed the nose once I got past the solvent smell. The palate was a let down. Astringent alcohol and fairly simple. It did not live up to the nose. The finish was basically non-existent. It is a young whiskey, and may have a bit of heads and gone too deep into the tails. Still, I enjoyed the nose immensely!! Then again I love m&ms. -

Reviewed November 22, 2020 (edited August 13, 2021)Started with bottle "0" from Rick today. He provided 2 beautiful blind samples as a participant in the GCBS Sample Swap. Love working on blind samples. I primed the palate with a small nip of Benchmark. I actually like Benchmark; don't judge. On to the sample. Color as you can see is a beautiful golden. It has some decent legs but nothing spectacular. Nose is a great sweet butterscotch and toffee. I sense a slight hint of oak. Mouthfeel is light. Palate has that same sweetness from the nose. A small amount of spiciness. Reminds me of Indian Creek Bondhouse and Balcones True Blue. Finish has a some dark chocolatey like notes. Medium length. Proof is 114 High Proof like I love. This is an amazing dram for me. -

Reviewed October 6, 2019Very different... medium amber color, slow legs. Nose of butterscotch (initially thought butter, milk chocolate and oddly salt) with ethanol. Palate of cooked pears, leather and hints of caramel on the finish that lingers into ripe banana and butterscotch again. Virtually no spice but has a mild ethanol burn on the back of the tongue and throat. I suspect an ester from their unique yeast combines with the oak char to yield the unique butterscotch. For the uniqueness will likely keep it on hand and turn to it again when campfire weather comes.55.0 USD per Bottle -
