This extra añejo is made with the same production methods as Cava de Oro Tequila Extra Añejo (without the "Gran") ---the blue weber agave is harvested from both regions in Jalisco, the spirit is distilled twice in traditional pot stills, and ex-red wine French oak barrels are utilized for its 5 year aging. This however, is the version exported to the US and Canada, bottled at 40% ABV (versus 38% ABV in Mexico only).
Tequila Extra AñejoDistilled from 100% blue Weber agave, it is aged for at least 3 years in barrels not to exceed 600 liters. Any type of wood is acceptable, although ex-bourbon barrels are most common. Extra Añejo tequilas are also known as "ultra aged".
