Gran Patrón Piedra Extra Añejo Tequila
Tequila Extra Añejo
Gran Patrón // Los Altos, Jalisco, Mexico
This tequila was released in 2014 under the Gran Patrón label from Patrón Spirits. After being steamed cooked, the agave piñas are crushed under a "tahona" - a large volcanic stone wheel - to extract the agave juices for distillation.
After distillation, it is then aged in a hybrid American oak/French Limousin oak barrel for four years. This ancient process using the tahona gives this tequila its name (piedra is Spanish for "stone"), and the inspiration for its unique bottle design.
