Henry McKenna 10 Year Bottled in Bond Bourbon

More complex than our wives' Mary Kay party in the next room, this has more going on than my "appreciator" palate can process. Bone dry is no lie but don't let that scare you off - the combination of flavor effects nears perfection. Alcohol on the nose, charcoal throughout with a touch of smoke. This is sweet vanilla that turns sharply to toasted caramel over spicey oak. This closes very dry, slightly sweet and full of citrus.

My first thought, "Wow, that's complex. There's like five things going on in my mouth right now." At first taste you catch a lot of the sweet undertones you'd expect from Kentucky bourbon country. The spice comes in mid-chew and opens up the flavor profile quite a bit. I feel like the dryness resembles an Irish whiskey, which I'm not a huge fan of. This whiskey is really good but I almost feel overly complex which takes away from it.
