This is a lot better than the Blanco. It's light and grassy with some nice citrus.
It has some sweet flavor along with the grass and prominent lemon and lime. Some butterscotch makes it in along with a little bit of sweet and rich nuttiness, a bit like peanut brittle. It doesn't taste as strong as 1800 Reposado perhaps, but it is close and it has a lot of good flavors and solid richness. It's amazing what a step up this is from the Blanco.
The nose is kind of sweet and interesting with notes of hay, strawberry, white pepper, and light caramel. The palate is balanced with a moderate strength and an interesting cast of flavors. I get some grassy flavors mixed with pineapple, lime, brown sugar, and white pepper. It's a tad fiery, but in a good way. It's sweet and fruity and herbal and earthy. Some scotch smoke comes through too and so does some nice vanilla. There's definitely some clove in here, which I'm not a big fan of. The agave is quite present though, which is really nice. I'm not a huge fan of the hay flavor, but it's interesting to sip.
