This is Utah-based High West's latest iteration of the Cronut-like assembly of spirits distilled by others. It is composed of a 9 Year straight bourbon, a 10 Year straight rye, and a 16 Year straight rye all distilled at MGP/LDI in Indiana. Additionally, a 16 Year straight rye distilled at Barton Distillery in Kentucky is used. The assemblage sees additional time in barrels with a #2 char on heads and #4 char on staves. "The spirit opens with spiced honey and caramel followed by whiffs of vanilla bean. Baked pear commands the glass on tasting; imagine the fruit drizzled with creamy toffee/butterscotch and dusted with white pepper for a lilting accent. The moderately long finish offers up oak and toasty spice that the incautious might be tempted to call curry-like, a quality, real or imagined, that helps make for a mean Perfect Manhattan. "
