Johnnie Walker A Song of Ice

I tasted this and the Song of Fire version back to back. On the nose this was lightly floral and fruity. It reminded me of pears, peaches, honeysuckle and apple blossoms. The taste was slightly sweet and fruity. I didn’t really get anything floral when tasting. It was good but not very complex. It reminded me a lot of Paddy’s Irish whiskey. This would be a good scotch for someone who never had scotch before.

Had neat. After a bit of time in the glass, I got tropical fruit, grass and caramel butterscotch sweetness. A hint of smoke creeps in after more time in the glass . A longer, stronger finish than expected with grassy notes on the end. Easy sipping and very nice. Update: after the bottle got about halfway down, after a couple of months, some very nice spice developed at the end.

While enjoyable with notes of creamy coconut and vanilla the finish feels short to me and depending on the sip nonexistent. Not the worst budget scotch but not the best.
