Joseph Magnus Cigar Blend Bourbon

I came across this libation in the hotel I was staying at in Virginia. I never had anything from Mr Magnus. The name intrigued me as well. "Cigar Blend". I must say this was very good indeed. The nose yielded characters of brown sugar, baking spices, and warm vanilla. The sipping experience was lovely. At first, I got obvious notes of oak, dark fruit, and corn. Then after a few more savoring sips the palate settled and out came leather and tobacco. These were more prominent on the finish. I enjoyed this so thoroughly, I almost ordered another. Thankfully, I refrained because I later discovered it had cost me $35 for the pour! Now I'm not a cigar expert by any means, but i can only imagine it pairing exquisitely well with this. Especially, since it was more than fine on its own.

Batch #243 at 117 proof! Nose of tobacco & leather, sweet with heavy spice, hint of fall earth. Notes of dark cherry, dried fruits, fig and apricot, fruit cake, clove and toffee. Master blender Nancy Fraley created this blend to hold up when enjoying a nice cigar or pipe, and it does that hands down! The first sip is WOW amazingly bold! By the 3rd sip you’re at the sweet spot and beg for another pour.

Loads of enticing vanilla on the nose, with a warm, laid back easiness. Pipe tobacco, raisin, dark dried cherry, cocoa and cake batter are but a few of the scents. On the tongue, things are drier, with a hefty dose of oak. The ex-Armagnac adds a lot of high notes of light sweetness and vine fruit. The body is medium-light and has a soft approach. At the finish, more tannins creep in, leaving a dry sensibility on the palate. An elegant and traditional Cigar Blend that is a current favorite in the offices.
