Kavalan Solist Vinho Barrique Single Cask Strength

This whisky has a punch. At 57.8% this whisky last for miles. The aroma is sweet, rum like, honey and vanilla. The taste was complex, rich, full and left me wanting more. The finish is long thanks to the high ABV, so a little water opens this up to a higher level. It’s pricey, but it’s good.

Nosing: ripen banana/ banana candy, caramel, custard, butter, black currant, grape, pear, circuit fruit, strawberry, vanilla, raspberry, latte and white chocolate. Amazingly sweet. Tasting: red wine, pears, fresh fruit and cooked fruit, sweet. Finishing: lemon peel, plum. Bitterness at the end. ** Cask number: W140108029A
