Lots of heat and long finish that I wouldn’t describe as “smoothness” which it says on the bottle. I had a taste of dark berries at first, but after more sips I definitely taste corn with pepper. I prefer other higher proof bourbons over this like Russel’s
Reserve or Craig. Do appreciate the 9 year statement and price.
On the nose, wheaty and dusty corn.
On the palette, classic caramel flavor with almost a chocolate note. Not very smooth, but the flavor is bold enough to match the proof.
The finish reflects the nose more than it does the palette, but introduces nothing new.
Overall, it’s my favorite Jim Beam product. A simple, straightforward, nothing-crazy 100 proof bourbon.
