Reviewed March 3, 2026 (edited March 13, 2026)Review #320 Kappy’s store pick Warehouse F-J Floor F-06 Rick R-036 Barreled date: 6/8/2007 Selected on date 9/17/2019 Glass: Glencairn, rested 15 minutes. Color: Dark amber. Nose: Vanilla, caramel, toffee. Palate: Clove, baking spice, oak. Finish: Long length with a good bit of heat. Splash: The sweeter clove notes really pop with a few drops of water. Overall: 9/10 - There is something very satisfying about the wax crumbling when opening a dusty bottle. This was a gift from a friend, hence why it remained unopened for so long, and I have no idea what he paid back in 2019. It’s the classic Knob Creek single barrel profile, but I haven’t had one in (apparently) a few years so it’s both an old friend and a new friend. What it does well, it does very well, and from what I recall, these are still around $65 or so. An excellent value. What it doesn’t do is push the envelope in any meaningful way. There are no surprises here, but it’s worth every penny to keep a bottle on hand.
