Laphroaig 30 Year (43%)

The original 2000s version. Very smooth, has soft elegant smoke, and sherry influence. Could be better if it was bottled at a higher abv like the 2016 bourbon cask and Ian Hunter Book 2 versions. Also doesn’t help I tried this side by side with Yoichi 20. Nose: Burnt Orange Peels, Smoke, Salted Caramel, Christmas Cakes, Barbecue Pork Ribs, Raisins, Vanilla, Baking Spices, Nutmeg, Licorice, Figs, Peaches, Red Apples Palate: Smoke, Dark Chocolate, Toffee, Iodine, Plums, Figs, Coconuts, Banana Flambé, Grilled Pineapples, Walnuts, Licorice, Cinnamon Finish: Tar, Smoke, Grilled Pineapples, Vanilla, Salted Caramel, Salted Cod, Beef Ribs, Figs, Coconut

Less laphroaig on the nose but quite laphroaig on the palate

Hands down best peater I’ve had so far, so much complexity, perfect for fireside rumination
