N- Apple- spices- candy/ Carmel- light smoke- really nice nose
P- heat - wood- peanuts - dirt-
F- long- after the quick burn- nice warm long finish- it the start had less burn- less alcohol- it would be really amazing. Nice whiskey- just a little harsh / rough at times
Batch B520
Nose: Cherry-vanilla Coca Cola syrup, hot cocoa powder, oak.
Palate: sweet flavors of vanilla, pepper, spice, tobacco. Slightly more mild and complex with a little water added. Certainly Larceny.
Finish: Little Kentucky hug, seems to last quite a while going from sweet, to more of a dark chocolate, to tobacco. Almost has a smoked pleated flavor like a lowlands scotch.
Neck pour.
The nose is the best part with oak and cedar and tobacco followed by cherry, vanilla, and cola. The palate is also reminiscent of a cherry cola. Wonderful, warming, and long finish. Slightly minty. Adding a few drops of water did amplify the cola and cherry flavors. Looking forward to seeing how this is in a few months.
This was a neck pour review. The nose was nothing special-the usual suspects. The palate was initially very promising delivering a great flavor punch with vanilla, caramel, sweetness, and spice followed by fruit flavours in the mid-palate. The finish, however, was disappointing. The flavours dissipate rather quickly with a slight drying quality. I'm a big fan of the finish in whiskies. This does not do it for me. Definitely not worthy of whiskey of the year award by Whiskey Advocate. Will post a follow-up after it opens up a bit if it gets any better.
