Sourcing agave from all over Oaxaca, Los Amantes strives to make mezcal “for the people”. Soft, light and very accessible especially to mezcal neophytes. Oak aging is not traditional with mezcal but very common with European and other spirits from the Americas. Not from a single distillery, Los Amantes sources from a small consortium of small village palenques. This reposado spends 6 to 8 months in French oak barrels, imparting a whole new set of flavors and nuances to this otherwise old-school mezcal.

Tasting Notes

"The Los Amantes Reposado is very subtle. The aromatics do not leap out of the glass but rather tiptoes onto the senses. Faint notes of vanilla, lemon, licorice root, mustard seeds and raisins entice the nose. It displays a little less subtlety on the palate but only a little. A soft palate coating texture full of ripe grilled peaches, vanilla, coffee, charred oak, cinnamon and allspice. There is a mild tannic bitterness on the back of the palate and overall reminiscent of a reposado tequila."
