Maker's Mark Private Select Bourbon

Lukas Liquour 24220, 12/22, 109.1 proof Sweet apple and fig nose. MM consistent minimal legs in the glass. Pleasant but light nose, stewed sweet applea and light fall spice. Palate follows with a smoky emphasis. Ice brings the apple forwaed, but smoke remains. The private selection series is so variable and hit and miss, this one seens to be ib thw middle. Price is right.

Hyvee LSMO, 12331, 10/23, Caramel Granache, 110.5 Proof Typical MM apple nose, more apple butter than green apple, with a hint of coriander and nutmeg. No legs to speak of. Palate follows with a hit of spice and smoke. Ice helps mellow the profile, but nothing spectacular.

Great body, high proof, overall great bourbon.

I like most bourbons more as they sit for a period of time after opening. However, this bottle became more bitter and tannic after a while, as if the oak character became more prominent but in a bad way. A fine dark sediment also appeared. This was never a favorite and got worse over time.

I get a lot of cherry and toffee on the nose. The taste reminds me of eggnog spices like cinnamon. I get clove, dark brown sugar and some oak bitterness that is pleasant. You get flavor from front to back. Reminds me of Christmas.

Had B&B recipe 2 - 3/3/4 - 6.5 out of 10 - not bad

Aroma of toffee. Flavor is srill toffee. And sugar. And wood. And citrus. Good.

FWGS Summer 2023 selection. Really nice stave selection. Quite spicy, big drippy caramel, cinnamon sugar, slightly creamy or buttery, with a peppery finish and a pretty lingering oakiness to it. I wish it was a little more viscous but overall I am very happy with this pour.
