Maker's Mark Wood Finishing Series 2020 SE4 x PR5

Just too much pepper and spice for me.

I get heavy cherry, some oak, and a hint of vanilla on the nose, cherry is dominant through the taste. The finish is warm, calm, and lingering

Heavy vanilla nose with a bit of baking spice. Full bodied and thick, especially compared to standard makers. First hit with a little heat, cinnamon and spice into mellow vanilla and a fairly long warm finish. Really easy drinking for the proof. Solid bottle from makers and looking forward to more of these.

As the label would suggest, the wood/smoke aroma and taste are at the forefront but not over powering. There is a nuttiness and a sweetness in the background that is very complex on the tongue....maybe pecan or walnut with some combo of maple, vanilla, and.....birthday cake maybe?!?!?! Lack of rye is evident. If you like other Maker's and Weller this whiskey is a safe buy. Not to say it was or wasn't my favorite, in a recent sampling of ~10 or so bourbons, I found myself sniffing, sipping, and enjoying this longer than any of the others.

Smooth, warm, buttery with lots of vanilla and caramel flavors. The finish is all oak.

Nose is big baking spices and caramel, palate is toffee and Mexican chocolate, finish is lingering sweet and spice with a tingle from the proof. This is really tasty, but honestly it is a little too sweet and rich for me to reach for it all the time. Ask yourself: do you want a higher proof Woodford Reserve Double Oaked with more spice and less chocolate? This is your dram. EDIT -Second taste after only a few days of air in the bottle and not a neck pour - smoothed out, similar notes but wow - the soft caramel/vanilla/toffee is out of control, with a tingly chocolate finish. Kick up the score!
