Maker's Mark Wood Finishing Series 2020 SE4 x PR5

Much better and different than the RC6. Had it back to back to Weller Antique 107, and they are very similar. Really good bourbon worth getting and maybe even having 2.

Amazingly good

Nose very similar to RC6 - maple syrup, briny, earthy, woody, caramel sweetness. Extremely unique. Unfortunately the SE4 doesn’t pack a punch like the RC6 and the palate is lacking. Very pleasant but too light to be exceptional. I will still recommend it to everyone that wants a good unique bottle but it’s edged out slightly by the RC6. Edit: Came back to this after a bit and did another side by side. The SE4 is still lacking on mouthfeel and finish, but the taste is a bit more pleasant. More fruits and less earthy flavor and tobacco/mint than RC6, which I like. I use the rating scale below. Distiller uses a scale of 5 and I use a scale of 10, but I’m sure you’re not too drunk to do the math! 1. Disgusting - So bad I poured it out. 2. Poor - I wouldn't consume by choice. 3. Bad - Multiple flaws. 4. Below average - Not bad, but many things I'd rather have. 5. Good - Just average. 6. Very Good - Better than average. 7. Great - Well above average. 8. Excellent - In a league of its own. 9. Incredible - An all-time favorite. 10. Perfect

Nose brown sugar, vanilla, apple. Pallet caramel, vanilla... sugar cookie maybe, oak, little cherry. Long finish, more cherry and vanilla.

Like drinking candy. Vanilla cherry bomb up front lots of baking spices on the back end. Coats your entire mouth and has a long finish. Not much burn considering the abv. Very nice bourbon

First time trying freshly popped bottle, enjoying neat. Nose - a heap of cinnamon takes over the nose. There is also a lot of baking spices and oak plus some vanilla, but not as much as you would think considering it’s in the description on the bottle. Taste - a lot going on here. I find myself trying a sip over and over trying to figure it all out. I get quite a bit of cinnamon spices that is quite warm on the tongue. Light vanilla and caramel but I was expecting more. Flavors I get are heavy spicy cinnamon, light vanilla, light caramel, heavy mint, and oak. The finish is medium with candy, a bitterness and then oak at the very end. Very well balanced of sweet and spicy on the palate. Overall - makers mark nailed another one and they didn’t steer far away from home. Full of flavor, great looking bottle, classic red wax, plus it’s allocated. This makes for a great bottle. I find myself wanting more and more.
