Martini & Rossi Riserva Speciale Bitter Liqueur
Marini & Rossi // Piemonte, Italy
Martini & Rossi's Riserva Speciale Bitter joined the product family in summer 2017. Inspired by the brand's original bitter recipe from 1872, the product was crafted to pair with Martini's Riserva Speciale Vermouth Di Torino in cocktails. In addition to Italian artemesia, the three key botanicals are saffron, angostura and columba.
Bitter LiqueursMuch like amaro, bitter liqueurs are made from the maceration or distillation (or combination) of herbs, spices, roots, flowers, or other botanicals. Bitter liqueurs are often red or orange in color, although they needn’t be. Sugar is added before bottling. ABV varies widely.
"Spearmint and menthol lead on the nose, with an herbal bouquet including thyme and sage as well as white pepper. Candied orange peels, bitter, and menthol along with cola and sassafras on the palate. The spicy menthol strain stays consistent through the finish, while the bitter side comes on stronger here though still without overpowering. "
