Melvale Straight Rye Whiskey
New Liberty // Indiana (bottled in Pennsylvania), USA
51% rye and 49% barley make up the mash-bill on this straight rye whiskey. Distilled in Philadelphia, this rye whiskey is modeled after the Maryland-style rye recipe for the pre-Prohibition Melvale Distillery which opened in the 1880s.
RyeMash bill at least 51% rye; aged in new, charred oak barrels.
Cask Typenew, charred American oak
"Warm amber in color with a very little rye presence on the nose. Orange zest, caramel, and a clean rye taste are evident on the palate. A slight astringency to the mouthfeel with a quick finish. Citrus is present in the aftertaste, as is caramel. A very light rye, but not at all unpleasant."
