Momokawa Diamond

Reviewed June 1, 2022Rating: 13/23 - I apparently didn't take full notes on this one, but it isn't quite good enough for me to buy another bottle so that I can complete my tasting. - In my copita, this literally looks like diamond or possibly silver. Shoot! Those are two different Momokawa sakes! N: P: Nothing amazing, but it isn't excessively bitter or very earthy. I get a lot of tropical fruit without excessive sweetness or banana. This is chilled, btw. It's a somewhat more tropical than usual sake. Rather than medium dry, I'd classify this is right between a dry junmai and a sweet nigori. The extra polishing in this junmai ginjo seems to have paid off with a clean and decently complex flavor. I have no problem sipping this. There's even a far amount of coconut in this. It's OK, but not at that 15 level of sippable. It's a hair muddled with some flavors that are a bit off from what I really want. Still, I approve of this sake. At $11, it's hard to argue with this. The ABV is pretty high as well (which I guess explains that taste of alcohol) so that helps with the VCFM aspect. This is without doubt better than a 10 and it probably beats a 12, but it certainly isn't better than a 15. I'm thinking 13. For the money, not a bad buy. F:11.0 USD per Bottle -

Reviewed November 5, 2021Label says, "apple, melon and tropical fruits accented by subtle spicy earth and mineral notes." I've got nothing to add as far as profile tasting notes. What I can say is that it's delicious. It has a light flavor and mouth feel, and there's a bit of bite at the finish.
