Mortlach 16 Year "Distiller's Dram"

Musty with a bit of fruit, bright against the dark. Much spicer on the tongue than expected, fruit also shining through pretty strong. They blend well, excellent balance. Medium body, expected more though.

Nose: very sweet and fruity. Apple and pear to begin with. After a couple minutes grape notes come in too. Very pleasant nose. Palate: sweet and savory, apple and pear juice Finish: grape lingers and comes back on the exhale. In general, it reminded me of juice boxes as a kid in a nostalgic way. This was just the alcoholic adult version

The 16 is a little light and lacking depth (very sherry dominant), however it is really easy drinking and once a little water is added the bouquet becomes better. Personally prefer the 14 which is double cask.

Nose: Orange peel, hint of ginger biscuits Palate: Oak, dried fruits, clove Finish: Raisins and a bit of ginger A decent, fruit whisky 6/10

Sherry fruits on the nose. Meaty chew on the palate. Nice burn on the finish. It’s good!
