Mount Gay Eclipse was named to honor the unique occurrence of both the passing of Halley's Comet and a solar eclipse occurring in the year of 1910. Eclipse is double-distilled from rich sugarcane molasses, fermented for 72 hours with proprietary house yeast, and is aged in ex-bourbon and used whiskey barrels for up to two years. Mount Gay Rum, produced in Barbados, is the oldest existing rum brand in the world dating back to 1703.
Gold RumRum that is often aged, but can also just have caramel-coloring added to provide color. No specific type or size barrel required. No set time required for aging for most countries with a few exceptions.
"Aromas of delicate white flowers, yellow cake batter, over ripe tropical fruits and sweet meadow honey. The palate is fruity and spicy with dried bananas, toasted oak, allspice, mace, citrus peel, white pepper, and spicy ginger. Eclipse finishes moderately dry and spicy with a light essence of an orange twist."
