New Riff released a pair of eight year old whiskeys into its High Note limited edition series at the end of 2023, becoming the distillery's oldest expressions to date. The eight year old Malted Rye is made with 100% malted rye grain and is a holdover of several beers from the distillery's earlier release of a younger malted rye whiskey.
The non-chill filtered rye is bottled at a cask strength of 118.2 proof.

RyeRye produced in the US must be made of at least 51% rye and it must be aged in new, charred oak barrels (no age requirement). Elsewhere, it will be made according to the country of origin's rules regarding the recipe and minimum aging.

Tasting Notes
"Spearmint leads off on the nose, along with hard, dark rye pretzels, expressed orange peel, and vanilla extract. The palate is redolent of baking spices including nutmeg, cloves, and cinnamon, along with brown sugar, black pepper, and tannic oak. A dry finish showcases cedar, leather, dark chocolate, and pumpernickel bread."
