New Riff Kentucky Straight Rye Bottled In Bond

This gives ongoing confirmation of my opinion that if you have a choice between a craft bourbon or rye from the same distillery, that the rye is likely to be the better option. I can't recall a newer distillery that puts out a better bourbon than rye. This particular rye is as easy drinking as they come. The sample I graciously recieved from the venerable @ctbeck11 is nearly gone before I have the opportunity to note some of the flavors I pick up. Minty, dill, caramel, balanced sweet and spice. This is pretty down-the-middle in terms of rye, but it's very well done. I'd be a regular buyer at the $35ish range it appears to go for.

Thick creamy vanilla that is interlaced with spice. Mouthfeel is coating and pleasant. Medium to long finish that keep you coming back for another sip. For the price point being under $50, this bottle is an absolute steal and I will be keeping it on the shelf.

Readily available. (3/5, WT101, Whistlepig 10, Whistlepig 12) I want to recognize the difference between any bourbon and any rye. First try. One of these must be an Empire Rye. Nose has honey, sour wood, lemon, dill. Body is butterscotch, apple, sugar, lemon, honey. Dough. Delicious. Juicy. Finish has more sugar and peaches. Very gentle finish. On ice, the body becomes this delicious caramel apple note, with a sweet, tart apple finish. This is amazing. I can’t tell you how refreshing this whiskey is. I could see this becoming a “daily drinker” for me, and I can’t wait to try it in an old fashioned. I know I am biased toward these types of notes in whiskey, but given that, I can’t find fault with it.
