New Riff 4 Year Single Barrel Bourbon

Nose - classic bourbon notes, vanilla and hint of cinnamon spices, nothing stands out otherwise Palate - it is a thinner mouthfeel than expected from a barrel proof bourbon, starts with vanilla and opens up with floral and citrus notes. not overly complex Finish - spicy finish but not much of a Kentucky hug, short to medium finish OHLQ barrel pick - solid weeknight pour, nothing unique or outstanding that I would be too excited to share

Have had this bottle open for a little while before reviewing and have noticed some differences and some mellowing out of some of the notes. On the nose, I get some notes of blueberry at first, then very faint vanilla and lastly some creamed corn. Surprisingly no alcohol notes for this 114 proof bottle. The palate is much hotter than the nose lets on, you get a dash of spice right away of both oak and black pepper with some vanilla making another appearance. The finish is medium long with the spice lingering for awhile. Overall it is a very serviceable bottle, not remarkable, but would definitely enjoy going back to this from time to time.
