Noah's Mill Bourbon

Very sweet. Caramel, cinnamon, nutmeg, maple. Long finish. Decent heat due to high proof.

Solid stuff right here. Nosing turns up spices, orange chocolate candies, and a little caramel; on the palate, it's waxy, spicy, and slightly leathery, with a surprisingly unsweet caramel and chocolate character. Very dry on the finish.

Nose - Vanilla, dark buttery caramel, hint of cherry coke, toffee, and faintest bit of clove, coffee cake, and peanuts. Taste - Very nice balanced oaky dark brown sugar caramel, cinnamon spice, light vanilla/cherry coke reduction sweetness. Finish - Lingering cinnamon spice warmth, lightly drying oak mixed with a lasting caramel/toffee sweetness. Score - 86/100 Final Thoughts - Initial nose is quite nice on this one where the higher proof doesn't seem to overwhelm the senses and you're able to nose quite a bit, getting something slightly different each time. Very pleasant nose, nice on the palate with a bit of burn/heat from the higher proof but still tolerable in that you're still able to pick out some individual flavors. Nothing unpleasant about this dram and is a great sipper neat. I could see this being pretty good in cocktails too as the higher proof might help. Seems like a very solid sipping bourbon for the price I paid.

Reading through the notes on this bourbon, one might get the idea that this isn't just an ordinary bourbon. Rather than give a description of the flavors I found, let me just say that this is one of the most interesting (in the best possible way) bourbons I've tasted. Very complex, yet approachable despite the high proof. Sipping slowly, there is warmth, but no burn. A surprising pleasure.
