Drinking this neat. First pour. Found a solid supply of this bottle at my go to store on delivery day. I need to connect more with the owner at this store because he is truly doing the neighborhood a service with some his pickups.
I was looking for a solid kick off to the 4th and damn did I pick a firecracker. It starts off mid range with immediate notes of plum trailing to the lighter end of apple. There is good oak mixed with charred wood and vanilla. I was picking up a bit of licorice sugar but it’s a stretch. Definitely feel there is an overall nuttiness that wraps it all together. There is also some brininess with perhaps an ever so slight amount of lemon citrus.
Mouth is a great butteriness and the finish brings again tastes of caramel apple. Good warmth overall which I don’t mind but this is drinking much higher so I’d recommend starting with this one in a tasting.
I loved the increased complexity here for only being a 7 year. You’re getting a ton of value out of this bottle, very impressed. Can wait to add this to my tasting lineups! Cheers!
