A rather fruity bourbon. The nose has lots of cinnamon and oak with robust fruit in the background, cherry and apricot. Tastes of spice and fruit with a definite cinnamon backdrop. Light on vanilla and oak.
Ech. Nose was fruity and sweet, while the taste was a bit more leather and spice. In the end, it tasted like I'd tried to over-toast an old leather shoe, and then make it more palatable with an astringent, fruity glaze. I just can't make myself enjoy this one right now..
Like.. I get that you like corn but do you, like.. *Like like* corn? Ostensibly the mashbill is pretty standard but I get bourbon on turbo. Woodford Reserve uses the same percentages - 72 corn, 18 rye, 10 barley - but produces a smoother product that feels more like what this wants to be. It's hardly bad but I don't think I'd buy it again.
