Old Heaven Hill Gold Label Bottled In Bond Bourbon
Heaven Hill // Kentucky, USA
This humble everyday whiskey comes bottled with a gold label, noting that it is Kentucky Straight Bourbon, charcoal filtered, sour mashed and Bottled in Bond yet there is no mention of age anywhere on the bottle. With no age statement and the clues that it is “straight bourbon” and Bottled in Bond, that means it must be a minimum of 4 years old. Heaven Hill offers very little information about its Heaven Hill Bourbon brand, however, I have been informed that it is a 75/13/12 Corn/Rye/Barley mashbill which would place it into a traditional bourbon category.
BourbonProduced anywhere in USA; Mash bill of at least 51% corn; aged in new, charred oak containers.
Cask Typenew, charred American oak
"This whiskey boasts some serious complexity on the nose for such an affordable offering with aromas of clove-spiced orange peel, charred oak, buttered toast, and caramel corn. The flavors of butterscotch, toffee, baking spice and big oaky notes dominate the palate with hints of spearmint and dried dark fruits in the background. Old Heaven Hill has a finish that only slightly lingers with light spice notes, toasted oak, and a delicate stone fruit sweetness peach pie. "
