Nose: vanilla, cherry, toffee, hints of maple syrup and candy corn
Palate: starts dark & mildly rich with cinnamon, more dark fruits, ends brighter with vanilla and a hint of butterscotch
Finish: starts with strong warmth but doesn’t finish so harshly. Mellows out nicely or at least balanced with the stronger bite at the start of the finish...if that makes any sense.
It's easy to see why this is popular. The aging has knocked off all the sharp edges in the flavor profile. Vanilla on the nose with sour overripe cherries on the palate. The finish lingers and that's where the wood shows up most, but without the bitterness wood can sometimes contribute.
