One Eight Distilling Untitled Whiskey No. 13

A delicious combination a spicy high rye bourbon with an overlay of the combined sherry cask finish. Not too smooth, but a great lingering finish.

Neat from fresh bottle. Nose is butterscotch toffee with some cinnamon spice. Taste is sweet fruity butterscotch caramel with a vanilla brown sugar spice finish. I get hints of orange zest as well.

This is a hell of a good whiskey. One eight has done a great job with this one. You instantly smell the sherry and cognac finish on the nose with notes of grape skins, figgy pudding, cherry pie filling, cinnamon, leather and rich caramel. On the taste your tongue is wrapped in this oily blanket with flavors of orange zest, roasted cacao nibs, aniseed, golden raisins with a medium finish.

Picked this up in DC for celebrating the holidays with family there. Really enjoyed it, in many ways reminds me of High West’s Midwinters Night Dram. Based on how little was left in the bottle, it was the family favorite out of 6 or so bourbons, ryes, and Irish whiskies.

One Eight Distilling did an amazing job with the cask finish on this awesome 10 year old MGP sourced Bourbon. This had a similar complexity to the other Washington DC MGP sourced bourbon at Joseph A. Magnus
