Peerless Kentucky Straight Rye (24 Months)

My favorite among assorted whiskies at whiskey night. Not much rye on the nose or palate for me - seems more like a bourbon with rye on the back end. Surprisingly good for 2 years. Not sure it's worth the price of admission, but was happy to get a taste.

Refined rye nose, slightly dusty, sweet and woody. Not overly sweet smelling. Palate is a sudden sting of rye spice and vanilla on the tongue. Some menthol and pepper. A great balance of spice, alcohol heat, and sweetness. Enough alcohol so fumes fill your sinus but not enough to dry and singe the throat.
