Reviewed August 22, 2020Penderyn Myth Welsh whisky 2nd try nail polish, slight sweetness, sharp, fruity and a little floral 1.25 light mellow, heaty, vanilla oaky 2 mid sustained 2 1.5 Since selling their first product in 2004, the Penderyn Distillery has remained the most prominent distillery in the region. Their still is a custom-built copper pot that can reach a staggering 92% ABV on the first run; hence, why Penderyn is one of the few single distilled whiskies from the UK. The Myth is part of the brand's "Welsh Dragon" range of 41% ABV expressions, along with Celt and Legend. It departs from the distillery's house-style of ex-Madeira wine cask-finishing, solely using ex-bourbon American oak to showcase the natural flavors of the whisky without the Madeira wine influence. The whisky is non-chill filtered and bottled at 41% ABV. delicate, sweet sugary, low pepper, not much distinct nose notes, caramel 2.75 fruity punch you get hit with passion fruit, pears, apples, but it sort of fade away quicky, light pepper, creamy, malty cereal 2.75 not sustained 2 2.5 Penderyn Myth Welsh Whisky ABV 41% Sweet corn-smelling (seems to be the distinct character of English whisky), this is more delicate than Penderyn Celt but its quite a lovely softness and floral - peppery on near nosing 3 Apple, pear that are unriped, not much sweetness but a very clean tasting whisky, you get a hint of oak, not much complexity compared to the Celt, slight peppery as well towards the back of the throat 2.25 Oaky, dry - mid sustain 2.25 2.5 -

Reviewed February 7, 2020Nose - Fairly young, his this sweet ethanol bite that is like it hasn't been aged long enough to remove that new make spirit bite, hints of green apple, slightly floral Taste - Fairly thin mouthfeel, green apples, light apple stem bitterness, light ginger tingle, light an over steeped bitter tea near the end Finish - Fairly quick finish, lingering green apple peels in an over steeped green tea Score - 66/100 Final Thoughts - This one started out with the impression that it was quite young due to the initial new make, raw ethanol vibe. Very one dimensional, dominated by fresh, unripe green apples with bit of fruity bitterness that isn't too bad, but kind of boring overall. Would I drink it if offered? - Maybe Would I specifically order it? - No Would I buy a bottle? - No
