A pleasant burnished color. Starts very bright with dry apple and bitter banana peel aromas with a somewhat off-putting nail polish/solvent note. However, after it sits for ten minutes, the bouquet morphs into this complex and enigmatic hogo-heavy ripe banana, plantain, overly ripe pear, caramel, and a whisper of smoke and sea salt.
On the palate, it's quite dry with rich banana and brown sugar flavors shortened by a saline smoked meat flavor. Kind of reminds me of a rauchbier and Canadian bacon. On the finish the smoked meat and salt aspect persists along with a brown, almost rotten, fruit note.
A young, funky, dry rum that's well worth checking out. I fell asleep and left a dram out overnight and it tasted perfect 24-hours later. Definitely a well-made spirit.
