Color very light straw . Sharp peaty and smokey on the nose, just lovely. Sharp, smokey, grassy, and medicinal flavors, just what you'd expect from a good Islay. This one is an absolute keeper.
Lots of peat, but not as much smoke on the nose. Earthy and vegetal. Peat and smoke on the palate - quite pronounced. Almost medicinal iodine. Strong burn and the smoke develops the spiciness on the finish. Nothing to complain about here.
Very light appearance. Subtle nose, some peat but with an interesting buttery quality to it. Maybe some floral notes as well but primarily staying true to the smoky/peaty nose. Taste comes in very pleasant and balanced. A sweetness (vanilla maybe) comes off initially to break the ice which is backed by the smoky peat. It has a nice buttery mouthfeel to it with a bit of spice to it, possibly related to the proof, but still isn't overpowering or hot which is very impressive. The finish is excellent and might derive extra length from the higher proof but is very enjoyable and lasting. Exited to taste this again. I need to get a bottle of this.
Initially the nose came in like a punch with tons of peat and smoke with a slight hint of citrus. My first sip same thing, but followed by a little ash’y taste that I am not a favor of.
After adding a little water, the citrus took over the nose. The taste, still very peaty and Smokey, and still ash’y.
Not going to find a spot in my bar.
