Day 15 of the Flaviar Advent Calendar

A charbroilled salted lemon half on the nose. The palate is seeet and richer than I would have thought: its like the lemon is dipped into demerarar sugar and the smallest pinch of cloves and cinnamon. The finish is moderate and peppery with the smoked sugared lemon stopping by to say “toodle-pip”.

Perfect smoke and a nice toffee undertone to finish. Has a bit of an alcohol bite at first then settles to a salty brine sugar melt. The smell perplexes me, I want to say it’s formaldehyde? Not a great smell and that may not be accurate but, tastes so much better than its nose which I now know is a mezcal tequila aroma. Very light almost clear in colour like water. Almost bought Ardbeg 10 instead but, glad I picked this up.

Its tight with a dry, peppery finish. Even water does little to loosen it, but you get a little more of the tire fire peatiness. No woody sweetness like you would get with an older whisky. Theres a little underlying coppery funk. Straw color.

Very smoky whi h is not my thing, got peat, vanilla, and lemongrass. A rock did mellow it a bit butcthink i prefer neat. Part of a whiskey advent calendar.
