Ron Cihuatán Solera 12 Reserva Especial is created at the Licorera Cihuatán, a subsidiary of Ingenio La Cabaña of El Salvador. Ingenio La Cabaña is a century old sugar cane mill that produces the molasses used in both Ron Cihuatán products. The rum is aged in used American oak bourbon barrels using a solera method.
Aged RumRum that is aged, but no specific type or size barrel required. No set time required for length of aging, but will often carry an age statement (which should be taken with a grain of salt). Often thought of as "sipping rums".

"Sipping the rum delivers a sweet caramelized vanilla forward flavor that is grounded by the wood tannins, dark cocoa, and carbon mineral notes. The soft cherry notes from the aroma returns briefly as the sweet and earthier profiles fight for dominance. The sweetness eventually wins out as the rum fades into a lingering dry finish."
