Ron Diplomático Añejo Rum
Aged Rum
Ron Diplomático // Venezuela
“Añejo” is actually somewhat of a misnomer for this rum. Though it has the appearance of an older marque, it’s actually the youngest in the brand’s range, using rums averaging 2 - 4 years old, slightly younger than their Blanco.
It’s predominantly made from light rum made from molasses and produced in continuous column stills blended with heavy rum made from sugar cane honey (a dark syrup made by filtering and then boiling the water out of the sugar cane juice)..

That is distilled in copper pot stills, then aged in used bourbon barrels.

Aged RumRum that is aged, but no specific type or size barrel required. No set time required for length of aging, but will often carry an age statement (which should be taken with a grain of salt). Often thought of as "sipping rums".

Tasting Notes
"Flavors of ripe apple, tropical fruits and honey are balanced with brown sugar, warm spices and a faint whiff of smoke. This is the rum in the range most people will reach for to make daiquiris and other cocktails, but it’s also very pleasing to sip neat. Perhaps they refer to this, their youngest rum as “añejo” because it has an old soul, sipping much older than its age would suggest."
