Russell's Reserve Single Barrel Rye

Mellow, a little bit of a burn but not a lot of long lingering flavor in the mouth. Very rounded mouth feel but no overwhelmingly distinctive characteristics. Good, tasty but not memorable.

Heavy grassy notes and rye spice, strawberry jam, baked apples and cider that kinda reminds me of a calvados brandy, rich buttery caramel, creamy cereal grains, mellowed oak tannins, thick vanilla cake frosting, star anise, spearmint, corn pops cereal, Dutch cocoa, berry compote. A classic rye by everyone's account, but I think the simplicity is the main selling point. All of the flavors are well pronounced and nicely balanced. Although it's NAS, I think the softness of the oak tannins shows it's well aged. A great introduction to the world of rye even if it is barely legal.

Brown sugar, dill, spice, and barrel char. Not bad but a bit too much dill for my taste. Has a nice richness to it though.

Incredibly smooth rye. Berries and vanilla that turns to caramel on the tongue. Silky and oily mouthfeel, completely coats your mouth. warm lingering spiced finish with just a hint of heat that slowly builds on the way down.

Nose: Floral with a hint of oak. A strong vanilla or almond smell. Palette: Sweet floral taste, slight caramel and strong spirit. Very smooth even thought the spirit is noticab at the end of the pallet.

Goes real good with hamburger tar-tar and a Zoom call with college buddies from pledge class 1977. Smooth with a spicy/vanilla finish. May try again and give it a numbers boost.

Rye whiskey noght at drake’s. Very good. Strong alcohol on the nose.
